Real Madrid is prepared to take Chelsea’s player-plus-cash offer for the €30 million star.
Andriy Lunin has been making it increasingly clear over the last few days that he will be leaving Real Madrid to pursue a regular starting XI position somewhere.
When Thibaut Courtois returned from injury late in the season, the 25-year-old, who had made an impression during the Belgian’s absence, was relegated to the backup position.
Given how improbable it is that the goalkeeping position will improve, Lunin is thinking about leaving and is getting offers from a number of teams, including Chelsea.
Lunin will be sold by Real Madrid for Kepa plus cash.
AS has now provided a significant update on Real Madrid’s position regarding Lunin’s possible transfer to Chelsea.
Chelsea is hesitant to match Los Blancos’ €30 million asking price for the Ukrainian international.
But the likelihood of a player-exchange deal has increased as Real Madrid shows interest in Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Chelsea outcast.
According to the source, Lunin would come to Stamford Bridge in return for Kepa and some more cash, and Real Madrid would be open to accepting this deal from Chelsea.
Real Madrid is adamant that Lunin, 25, has a far better worth than Kepa, 29, who is unpopular at his current club, so it wouldn’t be a straightforward exchange.
Therefore, Los Blancos would consent to the player-exchange operation provided Chelsea contributed more money, albeit determining the exact amount would be difficult to finalize.
