Wigan Warriors star Jai Field provides key injury update…..

Wigan Warriors star Jai Field has provided an update on his hamstring which has kept him out of action for a while now.

Field has been out with a torn hamstring since being injured in the Challenge Cup final victory over Warrington Wolves.

Matt Peet said today on Jai Field: “Jai is looking good, he is pretty much in full training, but he won’t play this week. It’ll be in the next few fixtures after that.”

That’s much in line with the expected timeframe of him being back at some point in August, and Wigan Warriors will be hopeful that he’ll be able to help the side in the back end of the season – particularly in the playoffs, as they aim to defend their Grand Final victory and the League Leaders’ Shield.

Now, speaking on Sky Sports’ The Verdict, Field himself has shared an update.

Asked about his recovery, he said: “Yeah, it’s been going alright. Not too sure when I’ll be back yet. Obviously just got to hit a few speeds at the moment, up around 90-95. So once I get that done I’ll be good to go.

Asked by Jenna Brooks if he was looking to be back in the next three/four games, he said: “Yeah, that’s obviously the plan. We’ll want to come back as soon as I possibly can, but I don’t really want to rush it with my hamstring history as well.

“So rather just tick all the boxes and then once you’re good to go, get back out there.”

Asked whether he was a ‘good spectator’ while injured, Field said: “No, I’m not, I’m not really, nah. I probably get more nervous, well I do get more nervous watching than I do playing.
