Rare Remarks About Her Ex-Husband Tom Cruise and Talking About Working Together to Film “Eyes Wide Shut”
When thinking back on their film Eyes Wide Shut, Nicole Kidman made some extremely unusual comments regarding her marriage to her ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Stanley Kubrick wrote and directed the 1999 film, which starred the A-list ex-couples.
During a 25th anniversary retrospective, Nicole talked about her experience co-producing the film with her former partner. She was questioned further about if Stanley “mined” her friendship with Tom for their characters.
Nicole told the Los Angeles Times that before they began filming, she, Tom, and Stanley spent a lot of time together. Bonding was the main focus.
“We didn’t even go over to the sets at Pinewood [Studios] when Tom and I first started working with Stanley,” she recounted. “Six or eight weeks have gone by, and we’re starting to wonder: Will we ever start? And we simply refused to begin. We were becoming enough at ease with one another to exchange thoughts. During the rehearsal process, we improvised the opening of that scenario.
The picture was notably shot over almost two years. Nicole claimed that during that period, they shared a studio on the set with Tom.
“We lived in the trailer, even though our house was ten minutes away. Because Stanley would remark, “You’re not each getting a trailer,” Tom and I shared it. It is beyond our means,” she remarked. S’s space was reduced because he was rushing around. He would also play video games. That was the height of [Minesweeper’s] fame. Thus, that was prevalent.
Did she think that her marriage served as an inspiration for Stanley?
She said to the publication, “I guess he was mining it.” There were concepts in which he found interest. He would have a lot of inquiries. However, he felt strongly about the narrative he was narrating. He did comment, “Triangles are hard,” as I recall. When there is a triangle, you have to proceed with caution. so one individual could feel targeted by a group. However, he understood it and knew how to control us.
In case you didn’t know, Nicole and Tom were wed from 1990 to 2001. The actress has discussed whether or not she regretted being married. She previously referred to an inquiry on their marriage as sexist.
