During a Liverpool performance, Eric Clapton uses a sophisticated gesture to meet Jürgen Klopp.
On Saturday, Eric Clapton made his first appearance in Liverpool in almost 15 years. While performing You’ll Never Walk Alone, he addressed Jürgen Klopp.
There is a lot of interest in Jürgen Klopp’s impending exit from Liverpool, and not only from the football community.
The German will be leaving Anfield this next weekend, having led the team for almost nine years. He has revolutionized the team in that period, returning it to the heights of English and European football.
Everyone connected to Liverpool is expected to have intense emotions during his farewell match against Wolves the following Saturday. However, his impact is felt not just at Anfield but also in the entire city.
Over the past few months, many have paid respect to Klopp after his shocking declaration in January. Eric Clapton is the most recent to share a message of his own.
One of the greatest guitarists of all time, Clapton rose to popularity with The Yardbirds and Cream in the 1960s before going on to have a prosperous solo career. On Saturday, he made his second stop on a nine-date tour in Liverpool. It was his first performance in the city in almost fifteen years.
And the 79-year-old undoubtedly took care to win over the locals. In the Liverpool Echo’s description of the performance, Clapton sang You’ll Never Walk Alone amid applause and a few jeers, presumably from the Everton supporters in the city.
In an obvious message to Liverpool’s departing manager, Clapton concluded the anthem with “For Jürgen,” much to the joy of the M&S Bank Arena crowd.
According to Liverpool.com, Klopp’s exit will have a significant effect outside of the football community as well. His impact extends well beyond athletics, and his contributions to Liverpool as a city, rather than just the football team, will undoubtedly go on.
He is so important to Liverpool that even one of the biggest rock artists in the world has sent him a message during one of his performances. Given his passion for rock music, Klopp will likely be overjoyed to receive a shoutout from Clapton. It’s undoubtedly preferable to the one he received from Liam Gallagher.
