Patrick brings a wealth of experience to the GM position. He has spent the past 16 seasons with the Capitals, working his way up from scouting to his most recent role as Associate General Manager. During his tenure, he has overseen various aspects of hockey operations, including pro scouting, analytics, player contract negotiations, and management of the Hershey Bears, the Capitals’ AHL affiliate. This well-rounded background positions him well for success in his new role.
This move signifies a commitment to continuity within the Capitals organization. Patrick has a strong working relationship with MacLellan, having collaborated with him for the past decade. This familiarity will undoubtedly ease the transition and allow Patrick to “hit the ground running.” Furthermore, Patrick will be able to leverage the expertise of the existing hockey operations staff, many of whom he has worked with for years.
