The Oscar winner paid tribute to Chan on April 7 in a moving Instagram post, expressing gratitude for the actor’s “eternal impact” on the Smith family. The youngest of Smith’s children, Jaden, 25, made headlines when he costarred with Chan in the 2010 adaptation of The Karate Kid.

The three were depicted in one of the most moving scenes as they worked behind the scenes in Beijing on a film project, with Will and Chan helping Jaden.
