Roger Waters and Eric Clapton back an independent running against Keir Starmer

In advance of the general election in the United Kingdom on July 4, 2024, independent candidate Andrew Feinstein has received the open support of both Eric Clapton and Roger Waters.

Clapton expressed his solidarity on social media, saying he will stand by Feinstein “along with my dear friend Roger Waters” in his battle “for the soul of humanity, for the freedom of the people of Palestine, and for the children of Gaza.” Against Gaza’s genocide… For Truth and Love.”

Waters continued, quoting the statement from his own profile: “El, my dear friend, we stand together.” I adore you, sibling.

The former member of parliament for South Africa has said that he may run as an independent in the UK general election of 2024 against Labour leader Keir Starmer in the Holborn and St Pancras constituency.

Local leftist groups have been endorsing Feinstein because of his outspoken criticism of Starmer and his stance on matters like the Middle East crisis and military adventures. He is actively involved in several progressive organizations, such as Stop the War and Palestine Action, and has previously identified as a socialist, anti-racist, and anti-militarist.

In recent times, Clapton has expressed his views on Israel in public, saying that his daughters have made him more conscious of these concerns. “Do you know what’s going on?” is directed towards two of my girls who are in university, he stated in a recent interview. They are therefore engaged, and I was greatly inspired by everything that was happening in Columbia and beyond.

Additionally, Clapton stated he “couldn’t believe” that the House Committee on Education had looked into earlier demonstrations at Columbia. “It’s AIPAC, it’s the lobby,” he said, implying that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee was responsible for the inquiry. The show is being run by Israel. The world is ruled by Israel.

At the same time, Clapton said, “I love Roger,” endorsing Waters, whose German gig was canceled in 2023 and who has been the subject of accusations of antisemitism. I cherish him. He has great courage in doing what he feels is right since we are brothers, and he suffers greatly as a result. He used to exclaim, “It’s morning here in Manhattan and I’m in tears again,” as I watched him sit on the window ledge crying.
