According to an ongoing transfer rumor, Wolves has reportedly made a high-profile bid for a player who is desired by two of their league rivals.
According to reports, Wolves has extended a bid to Celta Vigo for forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Wolves reportedly made the La Liga team an offer of over €40 million, according to the Italian news source IL TEMPO. While it’s said that Italian clubs are keen, the midfielder appears to have his sights set on a transfer to the Premier League.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has also stated that “negotiations are progressing fast” and that “Wolves are advancing in talks to sign him.” Strand Larsen is ‘eager’ to go, and arrangements for personal conditions are planned.
Much speculation has been made over Strand Larsen over the last few hours and it is an ongoing story. Wolves along with their West Midlands rivals were said to hold a ‘concrete interest’ in signing him, and that the next few days would be ‘very important’.
West Ham, managed by former Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui is also said to be interested, and so Wolves have seemingly taken the initiative in the three-way race to sign the forward. The identity of the Italian clubs have not been revealed but it looks like they are already accepting defeat given the riches all three clubs have.
A bid of around €40m would not be a club record fee for Wolves, but it would put him around the top five. Wolves signed Fabio Silva for €40m from FC Porto when he was 18-years-old and Raul Jimenez cost €38m when he arrived in 2019.
News of a big bid does come as a surprise given that Gary O’Neil hinted that Wolves would not be spending big money this summer. Wolves want to stay within the parameters of the Profit and Sustainability rules, and it was hinted that if any big-money arrivals were to happen then sales would need to be made.
Several Wolves players are of interest to their Premier League rivals. Newcastle United and West Ham have both been unsuccessful in their bids for captain Max Kilman, whilst Pedro Neto is of interested to a handful of teams.
Earlier this month, Rodrigo Gomes joined for a reported £12m from S.C Braga and next week Wolves will conclude the €7m signing of Pedro Lima from Sport Recife.
