Michigan’s football program has its first commitment in the 2026 recruiting class.

Cocoa (Fla.) four-star quarterback Brady Hart announced his verbal pledge to the Wolverines in a social media post Tuesday – one day after taking an unofficial visit to Ann Arbor to get his first look at the school and program.

By securing Hart’s commitment, Michigan has one of the top quarterback prospects to build around for next cycle. The 6-foot-4, 180-pounder is ranked as the No. 92 overall player and No. 7 signal-caller in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.

He is a highly coveted prospect with 28 reported offers, including notables such as Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Penn State, LSU, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. Ohio State offered him on Monday.

Michigan jumped in the mix in April, extending an offer after the Elite 11 quarterback camp regional in Orlando.

The Wolverines have now landed a quarterback in Florida in consecutive cycles. Fort Myers Bishop Verot four-star Carter Smith became the program’s second commit in the 2025 class when he announced his decision last November.

As a sophomore, Hart passed for 3,759 yards and 41 touchdowns, helping lead his team to a state title. He is Michigan’s first top-100 quarterback commit since J.J. McCarthy.

“Modern pocket passer with a favorable frame,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in his scouting report. “More of a drive-ball thrower than can generate plenty of power by synching up his arm and plant foot. Owns a bit of an elongated release, but can get the ball out quick, and has to in a wide-open spread attack that wants to challenge horizontally with swing/screen passes. First caught our eye in a matchup against nationally-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas where he put a number of 2-balls on tight lines and exploited coverage. Also impressed with his timing as he frequently hit his marks on schedule.”
