The football team of Michigan has defeated rival Ohio State three times in a row on the field, but on Friday, the Buckeyes defeated the Wolverines in a crucial match for recruitment purposes.
Quincy Porter, a four-star receiver from Oradell (N.J.) Bergen Catholic 2025, was scheduled to visit Ann Arbor this weekend but he canceled his trip after committing to OSU on Friday.
One of the Wolverines’ major needs this cycle is a receiver, particularly a big-body wide out like Porter, who is classified at 6-foot-3, 190 pounds and ranked as the 49th overall prospect nationwide by 247Sports Composite. They still lack a receiver in the 2025 class despite earlier on Friday landing a commitment from Gonzaga four-star safety Kainoa Winston, rated among the top 100 prospects in the nation.
In the past several years, OSU receivers coach Brian Hartline has recruited a plethora of top-100 receivers, and Porter joins the nation’s top-ranked class of Buckeyes. In the last three years, four OSU receivers have been selected in the first round.
Porter was supposed to make an official visit to Oklahoma later this month, and he had already visited Penn State in the spring.
Porter informed Bucknuts, “Ohio State has a history.” “I want to be in the League; they have a history of sending guys there.” Both coach Hartline and coach Ryan Day had a significant role. I think I can go to the League since they have players going there.
Michigan last landed a top-100 receiver in 2017 with Donovan Peoples-Jones. The Wolverines currently have seven verbal pledges in 2025, and all are ranked as four-star recruits.
